Hong Do-yeop, director of the local boxing gym, and his wife Do Jung-hwa serve as steady, warmhearted anchors for Tae-ha, the kind of found-family support system so many K-drama leads seem to need in order to become emotionally functional adults.

Comic relief and village color come courtesy of a trio nicknamed the "S.E.S." after the iconic first-generation K-pop girl group, a running joke about the women's larger-than-life personalities and inseparable friendship. Jang Hye-jin's Paeng Hee-ja is the standout of the group, delivering scene-stealing moments critics have already singled out as some of the show's biggest laughs.
