Which Treasure Island Character Are You?

Learn More About Treasure Island

Robert Louis Stevenson published Treasure Island as a novel, and it has been retold on screen many times since. The newest version is a six-episode series created by Robert Murphy and produced by Playground Entertainment. It is an American-British co-production, commissioned by MGM+ in the US and Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland, with Amazon MGM Studios also involved. The first episode arrives on October 11, 2026 in the US and October 12 in the UK.

The story follows young Jim Hawkins, played by Tom Sweet, and his mother Bess, played by Hayley Atwell. After they get hold of Captain Flint treasure map, they board the Hispaniola and join a dangerous race across the Atlantic. Along the way they are caught between a British agent and a seasoned pirate, and the hunt turns into a test of loyalty and greed.

David Oyelowo plays Long John Silver, the charismatic pirate whose ambitions complicate everything. Jack Huston plays the British agent Aaron Graham, while Tomer Capone appears as Billy Bones. The cast also includes Craige Els as Mr Arrow, Tristan Sturrock as Captain Smollett and Neil Pendleton as Mr Cameron. Official first-look images released in September 2026 show the cast in rich, weathered period costume against stormy coastlines.

Behind the camera, the episodes are directed by Jeremy Lovering, William McGregor and Paul Walker. Filming began in March 2026, with some production services provided in Spain. The series is pitched as a coming-of-age adventure for a new generation, which puts Jim and his mother at the center rather than treating them as side characters in a pirate yarn.

That framing is what makes a personality quiz fun. Each main character stands for a different instinct. Jim is curiosity and nerve, Bess is protective resourcefulness, Silver is charm and calculation, Graham is duty and discipline, and Billy Bones is old loyalty weighed down by a rough past. Most people see a bit of themselves in at least two of them.

With a new season of pirate adventure about to land, now is a good time to find out whether you would be the brave newcomer, the protective parent, the silver-tongued rogue, the dogged agent or the weathered sailor. Take the quiz, share your result, and then settle in for the premiere to see how your character fares on the Hispaniola.

It also helps that Stevenson tale has lasting influence. Many of the pirate images people take for granted, from buried treasure and a marked map to a charming rogue with a parrot, trace back to this story. A fresh adaptation with a strong cast gives a new audience a reason to discover why it has endured for generations, and gives longtime fans a new take to debate.
