Your Friends & Neighbors follows Andrew Cooper, known to everyone as Coop, a wealthy hedge fund manager whose picture-perfect suburban life implodes almost overnight. After losing his job and discovering his soon-to-be ex-wife is involved with his best friend, Coop starts quietly burglarizing the homes of his own oblivious, ultra-wealthy neighbors just to keep his lifestyle afloat. Jon Hamm plays Coop with the same weary charisma that made Don Draper so watchable, a man who looks like he has everything together while everything is actually on fire.

The show works as both a slow-burn thriller and a sharp satire of upper-class suburban life, where the neighborhood watch group would be horrified to learn the thief they are hunting for lives right among them. Coop's sister and ex-wife orbit the chaos with their own complicated agendas, while the neighbors themselves turn out to be hiding plenty of their own secrets behind manicured hedges and catered dinner parties.

Much of the tension comes from just how thin the line is between Coop's old respectable life and his new criminal one; every heist risks the exact social standing that pushed him toward crime in the first place. It is a show about what people will do to keep up appearances once the money that funded those appearances disappears.
