Learn More About Arrow

Arrow debuted on The CW in October 2012 and ran for eight seasons, kicking off the shared Arrowverse that eventually included The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman. Based on DC's Green Arrow, the show follows billionaire playboy Oliver Queen, who returns home after five years on a remote island and vows to save his city as a hooded vigilante.

Stephen Amell stars as Oliver, delivering an intense, physical performance that helped define the series. Early seasons leaned toward a darker, Batman-style tone, with flashbacks of Oliver's time on Lian Yu showing how he became a hardened survivor. Over time, the show added color, humor, and a team of allies who gave Oliver something to fight for besides revenge.

That team became the heart of the series. Emily Bett Rickards' Felicity Smoak began as a guest character and quickly grew into a series regular, thanks to her wit and her chemistry with Oliver. David Ramsey's John Diggle brought gravity and moral clarity as Oliver's partner, while Willa Holland, Colton Haynes, and Katie Cassidy rounded out the Team Arrow ensemble that fans still love.

The villains were just as memorable. John Barrowman's Malcolm Merlyn became a long-running schemer with a surprising soft side, and Manu Bennett's Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke, gave season two a gripping, personal rivalry. Caity Lotz's Sara Lance, who returned as the White Canary, became so popular that she moved on to lead Legends of Tomorrow.

Arrow is also known for the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover and its emotional series finale, which tied back to Oliver's ideals of hope and sacrifice. For many fans, the series represents the moment superhero television grew up, mixing grounded action with comic-book ambition.
