Which Black Adam Character Are You?

Learn More About Black Adam

Black Adam, released in 2022, introduced one of DC's most complicated antiheroes to the big screen. Dwayne Johnson starred as Teth-Adam, an ancient champion of Kahndaq who is freed after five thousand years and unleashes a brutal brand of justice on those who threaten his homeland. The movie was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and became a streaming favorite, with fans returning to it long after its theatrical run.

The story sets Adam against the Justice Society of America, a team of heroes sent to contain him. Led by Hawkman, played by Aldis Hodge, the team also includes Doctor Fate, played by Pierce Brosnan, along with the young heroes Atom Smasher and Cyclone. Their different approaches to power, responsibility, and mercy give the film its central tension: is it better to fight with an iron fist or with restraint?

Teth-Adam is a champion who bristles at being told how to use his power. He is blunt, effective, and deeply loyal to those he loves. Hawkman, meanwhile, is a stubborn crusader with strong convictions and a strict code. Kent Nelson, as Doctor Fate, uses foresight and mysticism to guide the team, though his wisdom comes with a heavy burden.

Al Rothstein, known as Atom Smasher, is the enthusiastic rookie who idolizes heroes and wants to earn a place among them. Maxine Hunkel, known as Cyclone, brings a lighter energy and a family connection that grounds the fantasy in community. Both younger heroes show that heroism is as much about heart as it is about raw strength.

Beyond the heroes, the film explores themes of occupation, freedom, and the responsibilities that come with extraordinary power. Adrianna Tomaz and her son Amon give the story its emotional center, reminding the audience what Adam is truly fighting for.
