Learn More About Vought Rising
Vought Rising is the newest entry in The Boys franchise, a 1950s-set prequel series from creator Eric Kripke that traces the twisted early history of Vought International and the birth of the superhero age. Announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2024 and produced for Amazon Prime Video, the series is billed as a noir-tinged murder mystery, following the origins of Soldier Boy and the diabolical rise of the Supe who fans of The Boys already know as Stormfront.
Jensen Ackles reprises his fan-favorite role as Soldier Boy, this time as a younger version of Ben, the first American non-aging Supe created by Frederick Vought during World War II. Ackles has spoken about the appeal of returning to the character at an earlier point in his life, before decades of trauma and Vought manipulation hardened him into the volatile figure seen in The Boys. Alongside him, Aya Cash reprises Stormfront, here going by her original identity, Klara Risinger, years before she adopted the alias the public would come to fear.
The supporting cast introduces a new generation of Vought's earliest superhero product line, dubbed the V-One supes, each modeled after a branch of the military. Mason Dye reprises his Boys season 5 role as Bombsight, an Air Force-inspired flyer, while Will Hochman plays Torpedo, a Navy-themed speedster, and Elizabeth Posey debuts as Private Angel, a nurse-corps-inspired supe with a carefully curated, idealized public image. The costumes for all three, revealed in first-look photos, lean heavily into USO show aesthetics reimagined for superhero spectacle, designed by costume director Laura Jean Shannon.
Rounding out the cast are KiKi Layne, reportedly playing an ambitious Harlem housewife, and Brian J. Smith as a detective investigating the murder mystery at the show's center. Jorden Myrie plays a supe seen being injected with an early version of Compound V in trailer footage, while Nicolò Pasetti plays a lead Vought scientist. Recurring roles have also gone to Cecily Strong, Mark Pellegrino, Eric Johnson, and others, filling out the corporate and political world surrounding Vought in this earlier era.
Showrunner Paul Grellong has described the series as an opportunity to explore how Vought's military-honed Supes evolved into the flashier, consumerist icons audiences meet decades later in The Boys, trading discipline for showmanship as Vought's marketing machine took hold. Series creator Eric Kripke has also teased that characters from other corners of The Boys franchise, including Gen V, could eventually cross over with Vought Rising in future seasons.
Principal photography began in August 2025 and continued through the end of the year, with Vought Rising currently slated to premiere on Prime Video sometime in 2027. As the fourth series in The Boys franchise, following the flagship show, The Boys presents animated specials, and Gen V, Vought Rising promises to deepen the mythology of Vought International just as the parent series heads toward its own conclusion.
