Learn More About The Chosen

The Chosen is the multi-season drama about the life of Jesus as seen through the eyes of the people who knew him: fishermen, tax collectors, outcasts and religious leaders whose lives are turned upside down after one encounter. Created and directed by Dallas Jenkins, the series began as a crowdfunded experiment and has grown into one of the most-watched faith-based shows ever made, with its producers reporting more than 300 million viewers worldwide.

What sets the show apart is how human it makes familiar figures. Simon Peter (Shahar Isaac) is a fisherman drowning in debt and pride; Matthew (Paras Patel) is a socially awkward tax collector despised by his own people; Mary Magdalene (Elizabeth Tabish) begins the story tormented and alone. Jonathan Roumie’s Jesus is warm, funny and approachable, a portrayal that has made him one of the most recognized faces in faith-based entertainment.

Season 6 arrives on Prime Video on November 15, 2026, with three episodes on premiere day and one new episode each week through December 6. It is the season fans have been bracing for: the story of Jesus’ final 24 hours, told through the people who love him and the people who condemn him, from the disciples to Caiaphas (Richard Fancy), King Herod (Paul Ben-Victor) and Pontius Pilate (Andrew James Allen).

The season finale is planned as a standalone theatrical release in spring 2027, and Season 7, which will follow the resurrection, is set to close out the series. Amazon MGM Studios holds the theatrical and streaming rights to both final seasons, a big shift for a show that started out distributing itself through its own app.

The supporting cast has become just as beloved as the leads. Noah James plays Andrew, Simon’s anxious, big-hearted brother; George H. Xanthis and Abe Bueno-Jallad play John and Big James, the “Sons of Thunder”; Vanessa Benavente plays Jesus’ mother Mary; and Luke Dimyan plays Judas, whose slow drift away from the group has been one of the show’s most quietly devastating threads. Early seasons also gave Nicodemus (Erick Avari), the respected Pharisee who comes to Jesus at night, one of the series’ most memorable arcs.

This quiz matches you with five of those characters based on how you handle friendship, conflict, faith and change. Are you a bold, impulsive leader like Simon, a steady presence like Mary, a careful questioner like Nicodemus, or a loyal believer like Andrew? Your answers decide.
