Learn More About St. Denis Medical
St. Denis Medical is NBC’s mockumentary workplace comedy set inside an underfunded Oregon hospital, where a documentary crew follows the doctors and nurses of St. Denis Regional Medical Center as they try to treat patients without losing their minds. Created by Justin Spitzer (Superstore) and Eric Ledgin, the series premiered in November 2024 and quickly became one of the network’s steadiest comedy performers, earning a second season in 2025 and a third that premieres on Monday, November 2, 2026.
The show’s DNA will feel familiar to anyone who loved The Office or Abbott Elementary: talking-head confessionals, glances at the camera, and a staff of good-hearted people stuck inside a system that is clearly not built to help them. What sets it apart is the setting. A hospital raises the stakes on every bad budget decision, and the comedy comes from how calmly everyone has learned to absorb chaos.
At the center is Joyce Henderson (Wendi McLendon-Covey), the hospital’s ambitious and wonderfully kooky executive director, a former oncologist who now spends her days chasing initiatives, ratings and good press. Opposite her is Alex Mazurkian (Allison Tolman), the supervising nurse whose empathy and workaholic tendencies make her the true engine of the building.
Josh Lawson plays Bruce Schweitz, a cocky trauma surgeon who is very good at his job and even better at wanting to be told so. David Alan Grier steals scenes as Ron Leonard, the veteran nurse who has perfected the art of doing exactly enough. Mekki Leeper’s Matt Pearson, a newly hired nurse from a religious community in Montana, brings a wide-eyed sincerity that makes him an instant fan favorite.
Rounding out the ensemble are Kahyun Kim as Serena Jung, a self-assured travel nurse with a wild streak, and Kaliko Kauahi as Val, whose deadpan presence pays off in the background of nearly every scene. Kauahi will be familiar to Superstore fans, and the show shares that series’ knack for building a full, lived-in workplace around its leads.
Season 3 returns as part of a Monday-night NBC comedy block, airing at 8 p.m. ahead of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, with episodes streaming on Peacock the next day. If you are catching up, the first two seasons are the perfect binge: short, warm episodes with a strong cast chemistry that only gets better over time.
