Which Hannibal Character Are You?

Learn More About Hannibal

Hannibal is the NBC psychological thriller that reimagined Thomas Harris's iconic characters for television. Created by Bryan Fuller, the series ran for three seasons from 2013 to 2015 and followed FBI profiler Will Graham as he works with brilliant forensic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter, not realizing his collaborator is the very serial killer he is hunting.

Mads Mikkelsen's performance as Hannibal is widely considered one of the great portrayals of the character, a refined and eerily gentle presence who treats cooking, music and conversation as art forms. Hugh Dancy plays Will with a haunted vulnerability, his unique empathy turning every crime scene into a torment. Together they form one of television's most compelling and unsettling relationships.

The supporting cast is just as memorable. Laurence Fishburne plays Jack Crawford, the dedicated head of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit, Caroline Dhavernas plays psychiatrist Alana Bloom, and Kacey Rohl plays Abigail Hobbs, the survivor of a killer's family caught up in the web of manipulation. Gillian Anderson, Richard Armitage and Gillian Jacobs, among others, brought further heft to the story.

Visually, Hannibal is unlike anything else on network television. Its stylized, painterly imagery, elaborate dream sequences and gorgeous food photography turned horror into something close to opera. Despite modest ratings, the show earned a passionate cult following and critical acclaim, and its fandom, nicknamed Fannibals, has remained loud and loyal for over a decade.

Fans have long hoped for a revival, and the show continues to find new viewers on streaming. Its themes of identity, empathy, obsession and the thin line between monster and man make it perfect for a personality quiz, because each character represents a different relationship to darkness and control.
