Gachiakuta is set in a world where the wealthy think nothing of discarding their belongings, sending them to a massive disposal ground known as the Pit. Rudo, a resident of the town's slums, sees value in what everyone else throws away, until his adoptive father Regto is murdered and Rudo himself is falsely accused and cast into the Pit as punishment.

Produced by Bones Film, the anime follows Rudo as he is rescued from the Pit's monstrous trash beasts and joins the Cleaners, using a pair of gloves called 3R passed down from Regto to fight back against both the creatures below and the corrupt system that condemned him. The series has drawn praise for its distinctive visual style and its story about the value society assigns, and denies, to the people it decides to throw away.
