Focker-In-Law is the fourth installment in the Meet the Parents franchise, arriving a full sixteen years after Little Fockers closed out the trilogy in 2010. Written and directed once again by John Hamburg, who has had a hand in every film in the series, it brings back the original core cast: Robert De Niro as Jack Byrnes, Ben Stiller as Greg Focker, Teri Polo as Pam, Blythe Danner as Dina, and Owen Wilson as Pam's perpetually unbothered ex-fiance, Kevin Rawley. The film hits theaters November 25, 2026, positioning it as a Thanksgiving-week comedy the way the earlier films leaned into their own holiday release windows.

The franchise began in 2000 with Meet the Parents, which introduced the world to Greg Focker, a well-meaning male nurse whose attempts to win the approval of his girlfriend Pam's intimidating, ex-CIA father Jack Byrnes spiraled into one disaster after another. The film's central engine, Greg's desperate need for approval running headlong into Jack's obsessive, controlling protectiveness, proved durable enough to fuel two sequels and now a fourth outing a generation later.

This time, the tables have turned. Greg and Pam's son Henry, played by Skyler Gisondo (taking over the role from Colin Baiocchi), is now the one bringing someone new into the family: Olivia Jones, a former FBI hostage negotiator played by Ariana Grande in her first major comedic film role. According to the film's marketing, Jack puts Olivia through the same kind of scrutiny he once reserved for Greg, essentially becoming the intimidating in-law all over again, except now Greg gets to watch from the other side of the interrogation for once.

Ariana Grande has described her character as a triathlete who trained physically for the role alongside De Niro, and the trailer leans into the franchise's signature blend of excruciating social awkwardness and slapstick chaos. Grande's casting marks a significant swerve for the series, bringing in a global pop star for a franchise that has otherwise stuck close to its original ensemble for over two decades.

Robert De Niro's Jack Byrnes remains the gravitational center of the series: a retired CIA operative whose "circle of trust" became a cultural shorthand for overbearing in-laws everywhere. Ben Stiller's Greg is still the anxious every-man whose good intentions routinely combust on contact with the Byrnes family's expectations. Teri Polo's Pam has always been the reluctant referee between the two men in her life, while Blythe Danner's Dina plays the warmer, more diplomatic counterbalance to her husband's suspicion. Owen Wilson's Kevin Rawley, meanwhile, remains the franchise's most purely comedic supporting figure: a wealthy, serene ex who is somehow never quite as far out of Pam's orbit as Greg would like.

Principal photography took place in New York City and Westchester County in the second half of 2025, and the film is being co-produced and distributed internationally by Paramount Pictures alongside Universal, mirroring the arrangement that first brought Paramount into the fold for Little Fockers. Composer Theodore Shapiro, who has scored the franchise since Meet the Fockers, returns to give the sequel a familiar musical identity.
