Which The Terminal List Character Are You?

Learn More About The Terminal List

The Terminal List is an action thriller built around one question: what does a man do when everything he trusted turns out to be a lie? Created by David DiGilio for Prime Video and based on Jack Carr’s bestselling novel, the series premiered in July 2022 and quickly became one of the streamer’s biggest hits, even while critics were split on its grim tone.

At its center is Lieutenant Commander James Reece, played by Chris Pratt in a dramatic turn that surprised many fans of his lighter roles. After his platoon is ambushed on a covert mission, Reece returns home haunted by memory gaps and loss. As he pieces together what happened, he learns that the ambush and the tragedy at home were no accident, and he begins crossing names off a list of people responsible.

Around Reece sits a compact but memorable cast. Constance Wu plays Katie Buranek, an investigative journalist whose pursuit of the truth collides with his own. Taylor Kitsch plays Ben Edwards, a former teammate whose motives are never quite clear, and Riley Keough plays Lauren Reece, whose scenes with her family give the story its emotional weight. Jeanne Tripplehorn’s Secretary of Defense Lorraine Hartley represents the political machine that may be hiding the real story.

What makes the show click is how it blends a revenge thriller with a conspiracy plot. Each episode peels back another layer of who was involved and why, and the action beats are grounded enough to feel physical rather than flashy. Fans of tense, serialized storytelling will find plenty to chew on, and the audience scores have stayed far stronger than the reviews suggested.

The franchise has kept growing. The prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf arrived in 2025, following Ben Edwards’ journey into the SEAL world, and season two of the flagship show is set to arrive on October 21, 2026. That return has put the series back in conversation, and fans are eager to see where Reece’s story goes after the original list is complete.

The show also taps into a broader appetite for gritty, military-flavored thrillers. If you enjoy that style, check out our Reacher quiz or John Wick quiz for other tough-as-nails characters, and see which Terminal List personality matches yours.
