Which Elite Character Are You?

Learn More About Elite

Elite is the Spanish-language Netflix teen thriller that took the world by storm after its debut in October 2018. Set at Las Encinas, an exclusive private school in Spain, the series begins when three working-class students, Samuel, Nadia and Christian, arrive on scholarships and collide with their wealthy classmates. A murder mystery framing device ties together the drama, which only gets messier from there.

Created by Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona, the show became one of Netflix's biggest non-English hits, running for eight seasons and spawning a devoted global fandom. Each season introduces new students, new secrets and a fresh crime, but the core ideas stay the same: class conflict, desire, loyalty and the terrible things people do to protect their image. Its glossy style, bold fashion and addictive cliffhangers made it a binge-watch staple.

The characters are a big reason the series stuck. Lucrecia, better known as Lu, begins as a spoiled, unforgettable presence and evolves into one of the show's most compelling figures. Nadia is the ambitious, principled student who refuses to compromise her beliefs. Guzmán is the heir who struggles to see his own privilege. Carla is the cool, controlled socialite, while Samuel is the grounded everyman who holds the audience's sympathy.

Elite also helped launch the careers of an enormous cast, including Miguel Herrán, María Pedraza, Miguel Bernárdeau, Ester Expósito, Itzan Escamilla and Jaime Lorente. Several of its stars became international names, and the series pushed teen television in a more daring direction, tackling sexuality, religion, social class, addiction and power with unusual candor.

The show also built on a legacy of European teen dramas that mix soap opera with thriller storytelling. Its format, where each season is told through police interviews in the aftermath of a crime, creates a hook that keeps viewers guessing who the victim and the culprit will be. Spin-offs like Elite Short Stories gave fans even more of their favorite characters and relationships.
