Trying Season 5: The Family Gets Tested Again

Trying has spent five seasons following Nikki and Jason, played by Esther Smith and Rafe Spall, through the long, messy process of building a family. What started as a fertility struggle became an adoption story, and after a six-year time jump in Season 4, the show has settled into following Nikki and Jason as parents to Princess and Tyler, the siblings they adopted years earlier.

Season 5 disrupts that hard-won stability by bringing back Kat, played by Charlotte Riley, the children's biological mother, who unexpectedly reenters their lives and throws the family into a very different kind of chaos than the show has dealt with before.
