Reasonable Doubt is a legal drama that streams on Hulu, created by Raamla Mohamed, a writer who previously worked on Scandal. It premiered on September 27, 2022, as the first scripted series from the Onyx Collective banner, and it follows Jacqueline Jax Stewart, a high-powered criminal defense attorney in Los Angeles. Emayatzy Corinealdi plays Jax, and the show has become a favorite for fans who like their courtroom stories mixed with family secrets and messy romance.

Kerry Washington is an executive producer and directed the pilot, work that earned recognition at the 2024 Black Reel Awards for outstanding directing. The series is loosely inspired by the experiences of celebrity attorney Shawn Holley. Season 1 ran for nine episodes and was widely praised by critics, with a perfect approval score on Rotten Tomatoes at the time.

At the center of the story is Jax herself. She is brilliant in the courtroom but constantly pulled in different directions by her marriage to Lewis Stewart, played by McKinley Freeman, by her children, and by a past she has never fully left behind. Season 1 has her separated from her husband while juggling a demanding job at a prestigious firm, and the show is built on the tension between her professional skills and her personal choices.

Season 1 also introduced Damon Cooke, played by Michael Ealy. He is a former client from Jax’s earlier career as a public defender, and his reappearance in her life stirs up feelings and loyalties that complicate everything. Season 2 brought in Morris Chestnut as Corey Cash, another defense attorney whose charisma and ambition put him in the middle of Jax’s world, and he returned in a recurring capacity for season 3.

Jax’s support system matters just as much as her cases. Shannon Kane plays Shanelle Tucker, her best friend, and Tim Jo plays Daniel Kim, the investigator who helps her chase down facts. Season 3 added Joseph Sikora as Bill Sterling, an attorney aiming for partnership at the firm, along with a story centered on Ozzie, a former child star in legal trouble, played by Kyle Bary.

The show has kept growing since its debut. Season 2 aired from August to October 2024, and season 3 ran from September 18 to November 13, 2025. Season 4 premieres on October 6, 2026, with three episodes at launch, and Tank is among the cast announced for that season as the wealthy R&B artist client Eric Cropper.
