Don't Say Good Luck hit Netflix on August 14, 2026, and it's the kind of coming-of-age dramedy that sneaks up on you — it opens like a familiar high school musical story and quietly turns into something much heavier. Sandler, real-life daughter of producers Adam and Jackie Sandler, has said the hardest part of the role was doing justice to a story that actually happened to someone else, while the most rewarding part was building something that gave the cast "a beautiful community and lifelong friends."

What holds the whole thing together is the central question the film keeps circling: how do you keep showing up for the people who need you, while also falling apart yourself? Nobody in the Birenbaum family handles that perfectly, and that's sort of the point — the movie is less about a triumphant opening night than about a family finding different, imperfect ways to carry each other through a hard season.
